The article reports on the British Standards Institute's BS 8555:2003 Environmental Management Systems Guide to the phased implementation of an environmental system including the use of environmental performance evaluation. The BAS 8555, or Acorn Scheme, describes how to implement a generic environmental management system (EMS) that can be designed to achieve certification to either ISO 14001 or the European Union's EMAS. |
