The article presents a study on regional industrial development that heralds a reduced role for regional policy. This is in contrast with the Regional Studies Association inquiry into regional problems in Great Britain. A brief exploration of the central government views leads to a conclusion with a call for an increase in regional planning and for regional planning authorities. With this, the case for such a reduction in assistance can probably be based on a number of grounds. It can be argued that in any event the free market solution is a better solution to regional imbalances. |
