Abstrakt: |
The article assesses some of the major issues and development relating to end-of-life vehicles (ELV) recycling in Japan and beyond. When the Japanese economy is performing well, leading shredder operators boosted their investments in new plants and equipment. However, some shredder operators are forced to suspend operations due to fierce competition for scrap since 2005. The Japanese low-cost recycling program is also criticized by European automobile makers as a system that requires massive recycling funds from vehicle manufacturers. |
