The article offers information on a study concerning the use of the general circulation model's seasonal ensemble forecast for the forecasting of precipitation which can be useful for hydroelectric power. This study aims to heed two main problems regarding seasonal probabilistic forecasts that are to be addressed. The first problem concerns the direct precipitation forecasts that have little skill over Europe, while the second one revolves around the inadequacy of the seasonal forecasting models' spatial scales in predicting the local precipitation at a river basin scale. Moreover, the study also aims to evaluate the quality of the precipitation's seasonal quality for 48 catchments in southern France. |
