Abstrakt: The article examines the toxicology of 1,3-butadiene, chloroprene and isoprene which are important building blocks used in the synthesis of polymers. These volatile organic compounds contribute to the atmospheric burden of organic chemicals. Butadiene is indirectly toxic to genetic material due to its oxidative metabolites. Butadiene has been proven to offer the greatest potential for carcinogenicity followed by chloroprene and isoprene.
