Abstrakt: | The article examines the content of mercury in hair in different populations in relation to consumption of fish. Mercury ranks third in the priority list of hazardous substances based on toxicity and prevalence at contaminated sites. The main target of mercury is the central nervous system, wherein exposure leads to serious brain damage. Studies revealed that fish is the major source of mercury for human beings and the content of mercury in hair is related to the mercury levels in the blood. |
