The article reports on a study to determine the ecotoxicological impact of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), a kind of perfluorinated alkyl acid which has a high-energy carbon-fluorine bond which make it resistant to hydrolysis, photolysis, microbial degradation and metabolism by animals. Protective screening-level concentrations of PFOS were determined for aquatic and terrestrial organisms. |
