Abstrakt: The article presents information related to the generation of electricity in the U.S. during October 2005. Total generation of electricity was 315 billion kilowatthours in October 2005 which is 1 percent higher than in October 2004. In October 2005, the consumption of coal for electricity generation and thermal output by all sectors was 86 million short tons which is 3 percent higher than in October 2004. Also, stocks of coal held by the electric power sector were 101 million short tons which is 9 percent below the level held a year earlier.
