Abstrakt:	This article discusses a study which investigated the acute toxicity of thallium to Daphnia magna and Ceriodaphnia dubia. The stock solution of thallium nitrate was prepared by diluting the thallium nitrate standard solution with moderately hard water and the hydrogen-ion concentration (pH) was also adjusted. The pH affected the chemical species of metals and their bioavailability. Hardness only significantly affected the toxicity of bivalent cations, and thus may not have influence on the toxicity of thallium.
