This article presents information about various books and other publications related to environmental protection and management. Some of the books introduced here are: "Handbook of Sustainability Research," vol. 20, "Environmental Education, Communication and Sustainability," edited by Walter Leal Filho; "Environmental Toxicity Testing," edited by K. Clive Thompson, Kirit Wadhia and Andreas Loibner; "The Business of Climate Change: Corporate Responses to Kyoto," edited by Kathryn Begg, Frans van der Woerd and David Levy; and "International Trade and Agriculture," by Won Koo and P.L. Kennedy. A first ever atlas of European soils from Portugal to the Urals has been launched by the European Commission. The atlas is based on data from over 40 countries, harmonised by the Commission's Joint research centre. The work is intended to raise public awareness of the importance of soils in preparation for a strategy on soil protection due from the European Union executive in the second half of the year. |
