Abstrakt: Activated carbon, renowned for its exceptional adsorption capabilities, has witnessed significant advancements and widespread applications across diverse industries. This abstract provides a concise overview of recent developments in activated carbon technology and its multifaceted applications. Recent advancements in activated carbon technology encompass various aspects, including the synthesis of nanostructured activated carbon, chemical modification techniques, composite materials, activation methods, and regeneration techniques. Nanostructured activated carbon, fabricated through nanotechnology, exhibits heightened surface area and pore volume, enhancing its adsorption efficiency. Chemical modification strategies, such as functionalization with specific groups, tailor the surface chemistry of activated carbon, leading to improved selectivity and performance. Composite materials incorporating activated carbon demonstrate synergistic effects, offering enhanced properties such as increased adsorption capacity and mechanical strength. Furthermore, advancements in activation methods and regeneration techniques contribute to the optimization of pore structure and surface chemistry, ensuring sustainable utilization of activated carbon. Moreover, activated carbon plays a pivotal role in gas storage and separation applications, medical and pharmaceutical formulations, and energy storage technologies. Its high adsorption capacity, selectivity, and biocompatibility make it indispensable in various medical applications, including gastrointestinal detoxification, wound healing, and drug delivery systems. In energy storage, activated carbon-based materials are investigated for their suitability in supercapacitors and batteries, owing to their high surface area and electrical conductivity. The recent advancements and diverse applications of activated carbon underscore its versatility and significance in addressing global challenges and advancing technological innovations across multiple sectors.
