The U.S. Supreme Court has made a significant decision regarding the Chevron doctrine, which determines the level of deference given to federal administrative agencies. In a 6-3 decision, the Court ruled that courts have a constitutional and statutory obligation to exercise independent judgment when deciding if an agency has acted within its authority. This decision has implications for legal challenges to federal agency actions.
