Abstrakt: This article provides an overview of the book "The Fifty Key Thinkers on the Environment," by Joy A. Palmer. This book is intended to be a valuable resource for readers with an interest in influential lives relating to critical thinking and action which has influenced the environmental movement, and in the intellectual history of environmental philosophy and related field. The environmental thinkers whose views are discussed here span a very broad timescale--from the 5th century B.C. to the present day. They include a number of people, including Jean-Jacques Rosseau, Rachel Carson, Chico Mendes, John Ruskin and Arne Naess. In no way is this book exhaustive and it does not pretend to be an overview of the lives of the fifty greatest environmental thinkers the world has ever known. What this book is a glimpse of the lives of individuals, past and present, who have influenced thinking about the inter-relationships that exist among people, other species, and the natural world.
