This document is a corrigendum for an article titled "Where there's smoke, there's cats: long-unburnt habitat is crucial to mitigating the impacts of cats on the Ngarlgumirdi, greater bilby (Macrotis lagotis)" published in Wildlife Research. The corrigendum acknowledges that the Indigenous translation of the short summary was missing from the published version. The short summary and its translation highlight the study's findings that Ngarlgumirdi, a species of bilby, are more prevalent in areas with less frequent or long-unburnt habitat. Feral cats, which impact the Ngarlgumirdi, are less common in these habitats. The results emphasize the importance of reducing fire frequency and protecting long-unburnt vegetation to maintain Ngarlgumirdi habitat. The translation of the summary into Yawuru language was provided by the Mabu Yawuru Ngan-ga Language Centre. [Extracted from the article] |
