This article discusses the challenges faced by recycling companies in making a profit and meeting sustainability goals. Fluctuating prices of recyclables and increasing energy costs are impacting the profitability of recycling. The complexity and rapid rate of change in the recycling market also require constant investment in expensive equipment. The article suggests that wearfacing, or hardfacing, can help reduce costs by extending the life of components through protective treatments. Different wearfacing technologies and products can be tailored to meet specific requirements in various recycling operations.
