Abstrakt: The article focuses on a study that measured lead levels in maternal and cord blood in a convenience sample of mothers delivering at a hospital that serves women from the informal settlements of Dandora and Kariobangi in Nairobi. It describes the methods used to investigate maternal lead exposures in the settlements as well as associations between potential lead sources and blood lead levels. It discusses the implications of the discovery of high BLL found in the study participants.
