Abstrakt: This article examines the environmental impact of the First World War on the Eastern Front, an area that has received less attention than the Western Front. It focuses on two main aspects: the human-caused disasters in industrial areas and the efforts of the armies to adapt the landscape for combat and survival. The destruction of oil fields in Galicia in 1915 had significant environmental consequences, including negative effects on the environment and agricultural land. The construction and destruction in the front line also resulted in changes to the landscape, such as the cutting down of trees and contamination of soil and water with oil products.
