Abstrakt: Presents a case study on the environmental and economic sustainability of La Paz, a city on the coast of Baja California, Mexico. Social, economic, and environmental profile of La Paz, which has been plagued by unregulated development; Challenges faced by the city to provide its citizens with adequate drinking water, ensure public access to beaches, protect fragile marine and terrestrial systems, reduce poverty, and enhance tourism; Consideration of the city's future, based on decisions that will impact its economic performance and environmental quality.
