Abstrakt: The fish community that inhabits Albanian Adriatic coastal Lagoon of Orikum was intensively studies considering also aquatic vegetation. Following field analyses there has been recorded three different habitat types were compared: shallow muddy habitats, vegetated habitats, and deep sandy habitats. The aim of this study was to understand and quantify the interrelationship among fish community and aquatic habitats, and the species dependence upon environmental factors. The records indicated the main fish families in the lagoon were Anguillidae, Athernidae, Mugilidae, Sparidae and Gobiidae. The deep sandy habitat offers less shelter for fish diversity than vegetated and shallow muddy habitats. The Lagoon of Orikum along with its diversity richness supports important commercial fisheries, primarily Anguillidae (Anguilla anguilla), Sparidae (Sparus aurata, Diplodussargus, Salpa sarpa), Mugilidae (Mugil cephalus, Chelon labrosus and Liza spp.), Soelidae (Soleasolea), Atherinidae (Atherinaboyeri), etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
