Abstrakt: This article, published in the journal Environment & Ecology, discusses a study on the effects of mannitol-induced water stress on seed germination and seedling growth in sesame cultivars. The study found that mannitol inhibited seedling germination and growth by reducing water content, with the extent of the effect depending on the concentration of mannitol. One cultivar, JTS-8, showed greater tolerance to mannitol-induced stress compared to GT-10, likely due to its higher osmotic adjustment ability. These findings contribute to our understanding of how water stress impacts plant growth and production in sesame crops. The study emphasizes the importance of considering varietal resilience to abiotic stress for farmers, plant breeders, and scientific research. [Extracted from the article]
