Abstrakt: The article discusses the importance of wetscapes, or wet peatland landscapes, in providing a sustainable basis for livelihoods. It emphasizes that peatlands must be kept wet in order to mitigate the negative impacts of drainage-based peatland use, such as greenhouse gas emissions and land degradation. The article acknowledges the complex social, cultural, and political dynamics involved in shaping peatlands and highlights the need for integrated strategies and collaboration between local communities, governments, and international organizations. The authors argue for the conservation and restoration of peatlands as well as the cultivation of biomass through paludiculture, and stress the importance of economic assistance and market demand to support these transitions.
