Abstrakt: The main theme of this paper is environmental justice beyond national boundaries. World politics and its environmental aspects are studied in three dimensions: international, transnational and global. This three-dimensional analytical framework can be instrumental to see how environmental justice in world politics is currently conceived and practiced by both activists and scholars. As each dimension of world politics contains specific configurations of power and opportunity structures, we may surmise that environmental justice will, in turn, take on separate modes corresponding to their respective dimensions. Although environmental justice is often defined in distributive terms as equitable or fair distribution of environmental goods and bads in a community of recipients, the three modes of environmental justice portray a much more complex picture.
