Abstrakt:	The author comments on a study which used a systematic approach to help identify high childhood lead exposure locations using U.S. state-based childhood blood lead surveillance data collected over an 11-year period. Topics covered include the strengths of the study, the value in practice of the methods for detecting hotspots, and the critical role of place in population health and health equity.
