Abstrakt: The article discusses the result of the study which aims to evaluate the combined effects of 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) with five polyhalogenated aromatic hydrocarbons which are all considered as environmental pollutants that bioaccumulate throughout the food chain and pose health risk to humans and animals. A dose-response curve (DRC) analysis reveals that ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase activity of TCDD, tetrachlorodibenzofuran, octachlorodibenzodioxins, polychlorinated biphenyls(PCB)126, PCB77, and PCB153 were dose-dependent. Researchers states that this non-additive response can be an important consideration in the development of a toxic equivalent factor approach for hazard and risk assessment.
