Abstrakt: The article presents a study that determined whether pesticide could be recovered from fabrics that came into direct contact with tractor tires in fields where they had been applied. To examine this, 12 tractors used in crop production at the Iowa State University research farms were identified. In January 1996, the tractor tires were wiped to establish base contamination levels. After the planting season, tires were wiped at the same way using fresh and uncontaminated fabric swatches. All specimens collected were analyzed through the gas chromatography. Results of the study showed that no detectable pesticide residues were found on the specimens in January 1996. However, detectable amounts of Dual were found on four tractors in the specimens taken during planting season.
