Abstrakt: The article focuses on the functional effects of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) to mouse oocytes through the application of in vitro fertilization and zona pellucida dissolution assay. PCBs has been found out that harm reproductive system in many species. The chemical compounds could decrease conception rates, decreased infant head sizes and increased fetal mortality. The effects of PCBs has been studied by researchers through obtaining female and male mice from the Jackson Laboratory. Researchers have used diluted PCB congeners with culture media in order to determine the effect. They have concluded that reaction of PCBs in oocytes was similar with other cell types.
