Abstrakt: The article discusses the study that determines the toxicity to Daphnia pulex and QSAR predictions for polucyclic hydrocarbons representative of contaminants from Great Lakes. The study is intended to determine the toxicity of several types of polycyclic hydrocarbons characteristic of Great Lakes samples to Daphnia pulex, a zooplankter. It is also intended to investigate the influence of different structural characteristics on toxicity, and to determine the linear solvation energy relationship parameters and model that describe these compounds. The researchers have found the measured toxicities of cyclic and polycyclic hydrocarbons to D. pulex as useful in conducting risk assessments to aquatic biota.
