The article discusses the study that determines the genotoxicity using a chloroperoxidase-mediated model of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons-DNA adduct formation, in Mexico. Researchers have detected B[a]P-DNA adduct formation with the activity of all the hemoproteins tested, which include chloroperoxidase, cytochrome C, horseradish peroxidase, and lignin peroxidase. It has been concluded that the chloroperoxidase-mediated genotoxicity assay is a rapid and accurate technique for determining the carcinogenic potential of environmental samples. This was true because the detection method is by fluorescent intensity and not by radiotechniques it could easily be applied in the field or non-sophisticated laboratories. |
