Abstrakt: The article presents a study aims to examine the content of n-alkanes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in specimens of the marine winkle Osilinus attratus which is found in this coast of Tenerife, Spain and is appreciated as a food. The study is a part of a global monitoring project of the area. Analytical reagent grade chemicals were used throughout the study. Chromatograms of both paraffinic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon fractions has show a deformed baseline which is the well-known Unresolved Complex Mixture. The mixture is considered to be a consequence of the exposure of organisms to weathered or biodegraded crude petroleum and its derivatives.
