The article discusses the study that determines the contamination of drinking water by atrazine, a s-triazine herbicide, in pig-breeding farm surroundings in the agricultural and industrial areas of Croatia. However, due to atrazine extensive use and its biodegradation in nature within at least one year, residues are found in ground, surface, drain and drinking water. Thus, the use of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, for one-year seasonal monitoring of atrazine residues in drinking water, has been described, from two separate pig-breeding farms Dubravica and Sljeme. In Dubravica, atrazine was found in 75 percent of non-spiked samples of drinking water collected, while in Sljeme, 50 percent of the samples contained atrazine. |
