Abstrakt: Lysinibacillus fusiformis (L. fusiformis) strain TL, can utilize various substrates to generate electricity in MFCs. Cyclic voltammetry was used to evaluate the electrochemical activity of strain TL. The results indicated that an established L. fusiformis biofilm cells were responsible for the direct electron transfer to electrode during electricity production. The SEM image also proved the ability of the TL strain to colonize on the electrode surface. When the anolyte was replaced with nongrowth medium, the MFC continued to generate electricity without noticeable performance loss. This further evidenced that the attached cells contributed to electricity production because suspended cells had been removed during the medium replacement. This study proposed power generated in MFC from the direct electrocatalysis by the L. fusiformis strain TL biofilm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
