Abstrakt: The article presents a research study which investigated the interaction of Diplostomidae Austrodiplostomun compactum parasites with their fish hosts at the Upper Parana River in Brazil. The variables considered include mean abundance of parasites per fish, number of eye parasites and the distribution and movement patterns of the parasites inside fish eyes. The impact of natural selection on parasites and the parasite-induced changes in host anti-predator behavior are described.
