The article discusses a study on quantification of sinks for addition of nitrogen to an oak forest and pine plantation. Topics discussed include application of nitrogen tracer to fertilized plots in both forest, accumulation of nitrogen seen in tree leaves, roots, bark and wood; implication of global carbon cycle through increased nitrogen deposition on forests, higher recoveries seen in fertilized conditions, and fates of deposition include trees as sinks for nitrate than for ammonium inputs. |
