The subject of the book is the second church burial site in the outwork of the Břeclav-Pohansko hillfort. It is the result of a five-year research effort of Masaryk University Professor Jiří Macháček's research team. The publication offers a comprehensive account on the population buried in this area at the end of the 9th and in the first half of the 10th century. It consists of a complete catalogue of the burial grounds followed by the analytic and the synthetic parts evaluating the funeral complex from the point of view of archaeology, history, and anthropology. An integral part of the book is also a comprehensive text about skeletal remains from the burial ground prepared by the team led by Assoc. Prof. Vladimír Sládek (Charles University). |
