The article focuses on the changes in the employment condition of British academic researchers due to the Research Careers Initiative. Sheffield Hallam University in England has the lowest proportion of researchers with insecure contracts in 2004-2005. A Universities UK spokesman stated that the changes were a result of a concerted effort by the sector and the funding bodies. Lancaster University ranked the tenth with the highest proportion of fixed-term contracts in the same period. |
