Frogeye Leaf Spot is an important fungal disease caused by the pathogen Cercospora sojina. This disease is mainly controlled through the use of fungicides and genetic resistance, however due to current resistance to strobilurin fungicides and ability to overcome some single gene resistances the need for development of more resistant lines is necessary. With this the objectives of this study were to observe and analyze the results of field studies for resistance to FLS, as well as a greenhouse assay in conjunction with SNP genotyping to reveal lines with resistance to FLS and possibly QTL conferring this resistance. The data collected from the field was used to identify some lines that were yielding higher and resisting the pathogen more effectively than the check cultivars. In the greenhouse assay, 94 recombinant inbred lines derived from a cross between ‘Forrest’x’LS05-3131’ were assessed strictly for their resistance to three races of FLS (P5, R-12, R-15). The data from the greenhouse was used with data from BARCSoySNP6k BeadChip array to attempt to identify possible QTL associated with resistance found in the greenhouse. |
