The Effects of Personality Traits on Individual Behaviors: Savoring as a Mediator

The majority of previous personality trait research has focused on the organizational and personal behavior separately. However, the different traits influent behaviors widely and deeply, such that this research concentrates on the traits of openness to experience and neuroticism to examine how traits influent affective commitment and emotional exhaustion in the organization aspect, and the relationship between subjective well-being in the personal aspect. Also, we take the variable of savoring to examine whether it has mediating effect between trait and behavior. The questionnaire survey was conducted to collect research data, a total of 356 samples was valid. The result of this research demonstrates that (1) Openness shows positive significant relationship with subjective well-being and affective commitment, and negative relationship with emotional exhaustion. On the other hand, (2) Neuroticism shows negative significant relationship with subjective well-being, but it shows positive relationship with emotional exhaustion; (3) savoring has fully mediating effect between Openness and subjective well-being, affective commitment and emotional exhaustion, and (4) savoring has partially mediating effect between Neuroticism and subjective well-being and emotional exhaustion. Furthermore, this study provide the recommendation for the practical and research in the future.
