Popis: | 高階經營管理碩士在職專班(EMBA) 106 The government new energy policy suggests that the renewable energy will account for 20 percent of the total electricity generation in Taiwan by 2025. Of the sources of renewable energy, solar energy is the most promising one, which can play a key role to achieve the goal setup by the government. The qualitative study is used in this thesis by undertaking the tools of SWOT and PEST to analyze the feasibility of using solar energy in the electricity generation. The results of the study indicate that solar energy has potential to develop into electric power due to the long daylight time and the maturity of technology for solar energy in Taiwan. The solar energy is competitive and can be used to replace the total nuclear energy and a part of thermal electricity generation in Taiwan electric industry. Presently, power generation from solar energy is less than one percent of the total, so the unit cost of generation is very high, as compared with counterparts of thermal and nuclear generation. In the short run, the government subsidies are needed to encourage the use of solar energy. As the usage gradually increases, the unit cost of producing solar energy will become competitive due to the economies of scale. |
