A Study of the Juvenile Baseball Situation and Difficulties in Taoyuan City

| Popis: | 106 Taoyuan City is a crucial city of baseball development. This research aims to discuss the developing history, current situation, and difficulties of juvenile baseball teams. In addition, the researcher implies the difficulties of different types of juvenile baseball teams. The research method is in-depth interview, and objects are sampled purposively from different types of developmental models in Taoyuan juvenile baseball teams. In this research, objects are from three types of baseball teams. First, juvenile baseball team is based on physical education classes in school. Second, the team is based on baseball club in schools without physical education classes. Finally, the team is composed by the community, and consists of different schools. According to the data from the baseball league of students and national baseball cup competition, the research indicates that since 1980, in Taoyuan City, the juvenile baseball has been emphasized and promoted. In addition, the performances of attending joint competitions of students and national baseball cup competition are good. Meanwhile, the support of school, the training of the coach, physical education classes in school, and juvenile baseball team in the community are the factors of developing the juvenile baseball in Taoyuan City. Therefore, some difficulties are found in the research while developing the juvenile baseball teams, for example, the insufficient support of the school, the problems of recruiting, shortage of facilities and professional coach, and so on. However, the team which is composed by the community has only the difficulties of the facilities, which is different from the other two types. The research expects that by comparing different types of cases, there is a better development of juvenile baseball teams in Taoyuan City. |
