The purpose of the study was to discuss the effect of the distance between two plates on the natural convection of rectangular heat source by numerical method. I am using the Fluent software to simulate. The purpose of this study change Ra、the distance between two plate (ε) and the aspect ratio of rectangular heat source (σ), and using temperature chart, streamline diagram, velocity diagram and local/average Nusselt number observe changes in heat transfer. The findings of this study indicate the following. (1) With the increase of the Rayleigh number (Ra) have the faster flow velocity and the better heat transfer effect. (2) When the space on the upper side of the heat source is not enough for the fluid to enter, there is a maximum heat transfer on the upper side of the heat source. With the increase of ε, the heat transfer effect is better, but when ε = 10σ, the overall heat transfer has almost no change, similar to the open side of the upper boundary conditions. With the increase of the σ, the overall heat transfer decreases due to the temperature boundary layer effect. When the upper side of the heat source is insufficient to allow the fluid to enter, the structure of the flow field changes, and the flow rate of the vortex on the upper side of the heat source increases, resulting in a better overall heat transfer.
