The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of self-instruction strategy on daily routine behaviors for an elementary school student with intellectual disability. The researcher used self-instruction program, combine self-instruction and picture-prompt strategies, to teach an elementary school student with intellectual disability, how to operate daily routine behaviors. The single-subject, multiple baseline across- behavior designs was adopted in this study. The research included three process, the baseline, intervention and maintenance sessions. The datas were collected five times a week in the intervention and maintenance sessions, which including 20 minutes observation. The results of this study were as follow: 1. The elementary school student with intellectual disability can perform self-instruction strategy on daily routine behaviors in the treatment phase of this study. 2. The elementary school student with intellectual disability can perform self-instruction strategy on daily routine behaviors in the maintenance phase of this study. 3. The self-instruction strategy facilitated the effects of daily routine behaviors for the student with intellectual disability in the treatment phase of this study. 4. The self-instruction strategy facilitated the effects of daily routine behaviors for the student with intellectual disability in the maintenance phase of this study. 5. The self-instruction strategy has social validity on daily routine behaviors with the elementary school student with intellectual disability Finally, several suggestions for future researches and instructional activities to promote students with intellectual disability on self-instruction performance were raised.
