Effect of Foreign Ownership on the Relationship among Performance, Internationalization and Regionalization

| Popis: | 103 Due to the trend of globalization, companies are experiencing the change of business model. Since opening up the cross-strait economic relationship, FDI from Taiwan to China has been increased. When business extended its operation overseas, the degree of internationalization and regionalization will affect business performance. This study adopted panel data regression to examine the relationship among internationalization, regionalization, and performance on 4476 observations of Taiwanese listed firms during the period of 2002-2014. The analysis showed an inverted U-shaped relationship between regionalization and firm performance, in contrast, there is a positive relationship between internationalization and performance. This study found that the configuration of high degree of regionalization and high degree of internationalization will yield the best firm performance. The study also tests the influence of foreign ownership to examine the impact of internationalization and regionalization on firm performance respectively. The result indicated that the performance with high degree of foreign ownership will perform better than low degree of foreign ownership whether it is high or low degree of internationalization and regionalization. |
