Effect of the ECO Enzyme DIY VAKT Program on Perception of Well-Being of Students with Multiple Disabilities Visual Impairments

The purpose of this research is two folds : 1) to construct an ECO Enzyme DIY curriculum(EEDC), based on the idea of Visual-Aauditory-Kinestic-Tactile (VAKT), for students whose multiple disabilities including visual impairments(MDVS); 2) to investigate the effect of EEDC on the perception of well-being for MDVS. The design of EEDC is based on the need and skill development of MDVS, and has developed five main components of special recreation, including: orientation, procedure, time, social activity, and environmental friendly. For each component, multiple sensor stimulation is provided, so that MDVS can learn by doing and can wholly involve in learning activity. The research adopts a qualitative method. It uses observations and in-depth interviews to explore the change of MDVS on their physical well-being, positive emotion, cognition and interpersonal communication well-being. The results show that EEDC based on the idea of VAKT help promote the well-being of MDVS, EEDC is one of the leisure activity options MDVS can choose. Finally, based on the findings of this research, recommendations are provided for government, leisure planners and future researchers.
