Moral Application of both Ancient Daoismand Confucianism Philosophy toward Today's Criteria for Corporate Governance

Popis: | 102 This study explores the relationships of leader’s moral spirit and corporate governance Taiwanese leaders in maritime industry through stakeholders’ viewpoints, taking into account the criteria of ancient Laozi’s DAODEJING (DDJ) and Mengzi toward Daoism and Confucianism philosophy. After abundant studies have conducted to exploring the effect from Daoism and Confucianism of ethical criteria among these constructs, this paper hopes to explore if the Daoism and Confucianism philosophy also makes sound effect on these Chinese maritime leaders. This study looks at the ten precepts of virtues set forth by the ancient philosopher Laozi’s DAODEJING (DDJ) and Mengzi related to a leader’s moral spirit and applies them to today’s maritime leaders in Taiwan. By reviewing the various annotations on OECD’s principal and consulted with Taiwan’s company laws in one construct of corporate governance, a conceptual framework is established based on the hypotheses among the possible influential factors. An empirical study on this exploration was performed through sea freight forwarding association from 71 stakeholders in Taiwan maritime industry. An empirical finding shown that leader’s moral spirit positive effects on the corporate governance to today’s maritime leaders in Taiwan. Results from this study provide the criteria of twenty virtues of leader’s moral spirit and corporate governance with desirable psychometric twenty properties, and explore theoretical and practical applications to maritime leaders, which serve as the guiding criteria for structures in improving and corporate governance in maritime industry |
