A pixel of a full color image is composed of three colors. Three separate spectrally selective sensors are required to capture a particular color channel. The sensor is one of the most expensive components of a camera system. In order to reduce the hardware cost, Most cameras use a single sensor covered with a color filter array (CFA) to capture any of the three primary color components, R (Red), G (Green), or B (Blue), on each pixel location. Each pixel has only one color component. In order to reconstruct a full color image the missing color samples need to be interpolated by a process called as CFA interpolation or demosaicing. The proposed demosaicing algorithm is using relationship between color channels. It uses the quadratic differential changes between adjacent pixels to make the color differences are more accurate. Then it uses the smoothing filter and MMSE estimation to improve the reconstructed image quality. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides a better demosaiced image with relatively low computational complexity.
