Implementation of a Telecare PSoC in Elderly Health Care

| Popis: | 101 Recently, there have been several advances in the world of medicine and communication technologies, and simple diseases that were troublesome in the past have all been overcome. As a result, life expectancy has gone higher than it was a few years ago; people are living much longer, and the population of the elderly is growing faster in Taiwan. Increasing the mobility and aging in place for the elderly, have been a popular research topic in eldercare system. This paper proposes a telecare system in elderly health care in monitoring of physiological data, which is obtained by revising a commercial blood meter. The signal processing to calculate the systolic and diastolic blood pressure has been developed by using Programmable System on a Chip (PSoC). Comparing to a commercial blood meter, the results demonstrate small differences. Furthermore, an Android Application (App) was also developed. The App incorporate with the PSoC and the Bluetooth module, the blood pressure value is transmitted to the phone of the home cared aging people. The blood pressure information is then sent to the remote caregiver immediately by using Short Message Service. It was shown that the elderly health telecare system have been successfully designed. |
