Aggressive Behavior of Children in Play Situations

This study was to investigate the Aggressive behavior of young children in indoor and outdoor free play situations in a kindergarten. One girl and two boys, as focus children,were observed in their play interaction with peers during indoor and outdoor free play time for three months. Their teachers were also interviewed.The data from observations and interviews were transcribed for analysis. The findings were as follows: 1.The frequency of aggressive behavior at outdoor play was higher than indoor play for three focus children. For the types of aggressive behaviors,violent aggression,oral aggression,vented aggression,relative aggression were peered in play contexts. 2. The three aggressors had aggressive behaviors with bodies.Besides,the relative aggression could be peered at the girl only. 3. The aggressions at indoor play were usually peered because the aggressors wanted to get something. The aggressions at outdoor play were usually be peered because the aggressors disobeyed the game rules. Moreover, victims of aggression or beholders had distasteful impressions to aggressors. 4. The rlations between them became better little by little after a few days. Hoever, there were some exceptions for the situation,it should depend on the aggressor’s personality. Finally,according to the characters of aggressors, recommendations for teachers and further study were suggested. The contexts of play was planned and the aggressors were instructed individually to prevent aggressive behaviors.This was the main goal of this study.
