In this study a reading picture book program with animal protection topics was carried out and applied on the 3th graders children.The influence on their concepts of cognition and practice towards animal protection are concerned. A questionnaire survey was applied to two different groups, pre-test and post-test by conducting a quasi-experimental method. The questionnaire contains three parts, such as background of students, concept of cognition on animal protection, and practice of animal protection to covers the whole related aspects. The answers of question are weighted by the Likert 5-point scale and the collected data are analyzed. Descriptive statistics, Independent sample t test and Analysis of Covariance are carried out for factor analysis. The results show that:(1)No significant difference is found in cognition and practice towards animal protection in terms of their background.(2) Picture book teaching as well as traditional lecture has influence to students in terms of improving their cognition and practice of animal protection.(3)Picture book teaching has more advantage over traditional lecture to improve students’ cognition and practice of animal protection. In conclusion the reading picture book program with animal protection topics can actually promote the cognition and practice of animal protection for school children.
