Stiffness and Strength Analysis of the Body Structure of an Eight-Wheeled Armor Vehicle

Popis: | 100 The objective of this research is to investigate the structure stiffness and strength for an eight-wheeled armor vehicle by using the computer-aided engineering and test technique. The finite element model (FEM) is established by using the commercial code ANSYS. The FEM includes body structure, power system, transmission system, suspension system, all hatches covers, access door, etc. The mechanical properties of body structures are obtained from tensile tests. The weight and the center of gravity of FEM are first validated. Experimental modal analysis (EMA) is conducted on the body structure to obtain the natural frequencies and mode shapes, which are used to validate the FEM. Modal analysis is performed to obtain the natural frequencies and the associated mode shapes. Good correlation between analysis and test ensures the FEM is equivalent to the actual structure of armor vehicle. The stiffness analyses in bending and torsion are therefore performed to evaluate the stress level and deformation. The full model is then used to perform the front impact and trench analyses by using software ANSYS LS-DYNA. Through the simulation of structure dynamics, energy absorption and stress distribution are used to predict the weak point of body structure. The analyses results may provide to improve their design. |
