A Study of Key Success Factors of Industrial Vertical Integration in TFT-LCD Industry－An Example of Taiwan Optronics Factory

| Popis: | 100 The development of TFT-LCD industry was only about ten to twenty years, and Taiwan’s panel makers have been through the vertical integration to achieve the scale of economies and reduce costs to improve competitiveness. Therefore, this study unveils the actual planning of a vertically integrated project by drawing the vertical integration of dimensions of management, customer and technology. Management dimensions includes policy enforcement efficiency, cost control ability, and risk management capabilities, problem-solving mechanisms, communication skills ; the customer dimension includes product quality, product price, customer satisfaction, stability of supply, product exclusivity, and the technical aspects includes technical support capabilities, collaborative development capabilities, innovative research and development capabilities, design capabilities and speed of delivery. According to the actual TFT-LCD industry experts, the expert questionnaires of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) identify critical success factors and weights. This study finds that the factor of product exclusivity in the customer dimension is ranked first (w= 0.144), and this can be inferred that the vertical integration of TFT-LCD industry are up to integrate the material side. This study also finds that cost-control capabilities in the management dimension and the product prices in the customer dimension are both ranked in the fifth position. Finally the factors of cost control ability and product price are ranked 14th and 15th, which are the least important factors considered in the industrial vertical integration in TFT-LCD industry. |
